Enterprise Interoperability and Enterprise Collaboration are among the main ingredients to support collaboration between industrial partners. As a matter of fact SMEs and research organizations are an essential part of EEU economies and form that important structural backbone integrating research and industrial networks. In such context COIN EI / EC Services and applications are extremely relevant for SMEs in a way they can stimulate the ICT related activity for new ideas and project proposals leveraging that critical mass around COIN related domains. To this extent the objective of reinforcement of the cooperation between research teams across the EU and the integration of the European Research Area in ICT (especially in the Enlarged European Union) can benefit with COIN leveraging its network and community starting from the launch of new research initiatives in the enterprise interoperability and collaboration (and adjacent) domains.

In past years in world an extensive research and development work is being done to ensure information technology use in agriculture; long range wireless sensor network (WSN) creation for specific agricultural use. Existing WSN solutions are in experimental development phase; their implementations is not possible without the specific WSN technology developers’ assistance and they have a short working range (ability to guarantee communication between sensors only at a range of several tens of meters); therefore their implementation in large area is very expensive. Realistic WSN implementation is unthinkable without specific WSN technology that includes physical nodes, sensors, operating system, application programming environment, competence centre support. The paper describes new long distance RFID based technology implementation - VLIT NODE

IGN, CCSS and University of West Bohemia are organizing this professional event, following their long-time education and research activities to achieve better SDI/GDI awareness and closer cooperation in EUROPEAN BORDER REGIONS to adapt to the EU Strategy of “Europe 2020” and the Action Plan “Digital Europe 2020”. The EU Directives on re-using of Public Sector Information (PSI) and development of Infrastructures for Spatial Information in Europe (INSPIRE) are strategic opportunities and challenges for more than 200 EUROPEAN BORDER REGIONS.
Therefore, you are welcome to participate at this GI2011-X-border-SDI/GDI Symposium to be held as the “11th Sächsisches GIS-Forum” at May 23rd in BAD SCHANDAU (SAX) & “1st Bohemia # Saxonia GIS-Forum” at May 24th in DECIN (CZE). Both these GI2011 events should inform on the progress of EU-Directives PSI for re-using public sector information, as well as on INSPIRE about interoperability of X-border Data, Services & Applications, especially in EUROPEAN BORDER REGIONS.
The GI2011-X-border-SDI/GDI Symposium is presenting existing and still yet developing cross-border SDI/GDI Geoportal solutions to demonstrate the transformation, harmonization and integration processes of independent WebGIS-Portals into more complex SDI/GDI Frameworks.

THE COLOGNE DECLARATION is alive document, which will be again discussed during Prague EFITA/WCCA conference. We would like ask you about active contribution. See full text on Slideshare.
The EU-funded projects FutureFarm, agriXchange and CAPIGI-network which joined together in GeoFARMatics 2010 in Cologne, Germany, from 24th-26th November 2010, recognised that agri-food and rural ICT must be an essential part of the European Digital Agenda for 2020. The process of building the Rural Knowledge Society started by the Valencia declaration helps to reduce the digital divide between rural and urban communities in Europe. However, new changes in the global food supply, growing demands on food quality and quantity, energy demands and environmental aspects introduce new demands on future knowledge management. The objective of future knowledge management should be to enable the agri-food and rural communities to react adequately to these changes. For this reason, knowledge management has to become part of the agri-food and rural production system. This requires a clear vision, which has to be based on discussions with farmers, experts, politicians and other stakeholders.
